“So you sit at home, drinking your wine…television on. You wait for a miracle, ’cause you say one day, one will come along. But wishful thinking boy…any minute now, you might be gone.” ~Cat Stevens

When society lived directly from the land, we knew that we may or may not survive, there were no guarantees, and “fair” had no meaning. Our best chance came from our elders, for they had accumulated all of the wisdom of survival passed down for generations, and their compassion and knowledge was seen as the treasure that it was, and they were treated as the most valuable of our society. We looked at them with reverence, and they looked to…
Where you are going is so much more important than where you have been. Where you have been has done its job, got you here, put on its coat and left for the evening. Now the job, the job that was always your job, is to SEE. NOW. What’s right in front of you.
I don’t need you to think like me, look like me, or live by me. I will fight for your right to live your truth, make your music, and complete your journey.I’ll be right by your side, on the ready.even if it is not my journey.But..If you stand for limiting another’s journey, if you stand for limiting another’s dreams. if you stand for hatred, judgement or violence simply because something is different from you, then I wont be there. Then, you…
Your beliefs hold no weight and are subject to change. It’s quite possible that most of human tragedy has been caused by conflicting beliefs. They used to believe the sun circled the Earth.Facts are relative only to where you currently stand, which is always moving. Your opinions don’t mean shit.Your actions determine most of your outcomes. If you doubt, Go to the wilderness and try convincing that charging Grizzly bear that it is your opinion is that bears shouldn’t attack people…its not…
We are taught since youth to do the right things, develop the right habits, and build a good life. As words are only as good as their interpretation, perhaps stating the formula for a successful life in this way does more harm than good, for maybe we are not building at all…Maybe life is more like sculpting; not an additive process at all, but a subtractive one, where unessential layers are peeled back, or chipped away- revealing what was hiding…
How do you define greatness? Is it in wealth accumulated? Is it the adoration of multitudes or the kind words written about you? Perhaps Greatness needs a new definition; perhaps greatness can be seen in the love you have left to spare, after life has ravaged you with grief.
In Martial Arts, you don’t overestimate your opponent, for your fear will defeat you before the battle begins. Neither do you underestimate your opponent, because by the time you realize the advantage of speed and timing…it’s too late…you lose. Both overestimation and underestimation are states of thought, and success can not be found in thought. Success lies in the stillness before thought, allowing response to the opponent to be the perfect one, Like a reflection on the water. This is…
It’s a waste of time to try to fight darkness. In fact, fighting it strengthens it. This makes the darkness grow, and before you know it, you’ve become part of that darkness. The only way to end the madness is to silently seek the light. Seek that which resonates with your spirit, and energizes it, and make no apologies. Anyone who would tell you “You’re going the wrong way!” I might say “tell them to go to hell”, but you…
Many of us struggle, trying to find our path, feeling that if we don’t try hard enough, we might miss it. Stemming from my own insecurity, I often forget that I can’t fail at being me. For nine gestational months everything fell into place without my hand, without my guidance. Why would I think that the next chapter would be any different, and the more control I grasp for, the less control I have? Let go, lighten up.
